Dear Parent/Guardian:
I wanted to let you know about a staffing change affecting your child’s classroom. While privacy rules prevent me from sharing detailed information, Ms. Duff is no longer a part of our teaching team. For the remainder of this week, we have secured substitute teachers who will be working closely with our second grade team to offer a smooth transition.
Starting on Tuesday, April 7, 2026 your child will be assigned to Ms. Sanchez in the same room, Room 19. Ms. Sanchez has been supporting our Los Encinos campus most of this school year. She is very excited to be serving as your child’s substitute teacher for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. The Second Grade team is working closely together to ensure this is a smooth transition for all students and that all students are in an engaging classroom environment.
Your support and understanding are appreciated as we continue to work towards student success. Every effort will be made to ensure there is a smooth transition effective Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
If you have any questions, please call our office at 878-2600.
Working together,
Laura Perales
Principal, Los Encinos Elementary School
I wanted to let you know that we are sending home parent letters today. Your child's letter has your child's Mock STAAR scores on them. This includes whether or not they are meeting the standard (passing) their STAAR. However, there is a separate letter that will tell you if they went backwards from their previous year's STAAR. Teachers are currently working very hard to give each student exactly what they need to be prepared for the actual STAAR coming soon in April. We do need your help and partnership in assuring they will be successful. This includes getting them to school every day and on time. We also ask that students do not bring things to school that are distractors. We also need them to attend tutoring and/or Saturday School if they are invited. Together we will best prepare your child for the next grade level and for their future.
I wanted to let you know that we did send home a parent letter yesterday. This letter has your child's Mock STAAR scores on them. It includes whether or not they are meeting the standard (passing) their STAAR. Teachers are currently working very hard to give each student exactly what they need to be prepared for the actual STAAR coming soon in April. We do need your help and partnership in assuring they will be successful. This includes getting them to school every day and on time. We also ask that students do not bring things to school that are distractors. Some students are playing with small toys or nails or jewelry instead of getting their independent work done. We also need them to attend tutoring and/or Saturday School if they are invited. Together we will best prepare your child for the next grade level and for their future.
Our annual climate survey is now open and runs through 4:30 p.m., Monday, March 30. This is our annual opportunity to get feedback from staff, families and the community so we may continue to improve the Corpus Christi ISD and Los Encinos experience. Please complete the survey using the Corpus Christi ISD Climate Survey link. If you prefer, you may also access the survey from the homepage at ccisd.us. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts!
